Reply: "I agree that my work is a bit contrasted.. but that's my style , usually I create very dark pieces, with a contrasted feel to it.. and light emitting from a certain focal (hence my name)

As for the 'flatness' of the 'eruption'
The white part isn't the eruption itself, the eruption has taken place (see the magma rolling in from the sides?)
the whiteness is the glow from the source of passion being attacked by the burning hot magma ^^
